Introduction to the regions of Napa Valley

When you decide to visit Napa Valley, you may well find that the most important decision which is difficult or wine cellars you want visit. This is because there are literally hundreds of wineries in the Napa Valley, scattered in an area 35 miles that can be broken down into several different regions within this zone.

Napa Valley, located in Napa County, is just one of many wine regions in the wine region of Northern California, but it is certainly one of the best known. In fact, the valley Napa is thought to be one of the most vital wine regions increasingly throughout the United States. Some of the most famous vineyards in include the Napa Valley Chateau Montelena, Beringer and Charles Krug Winery, but there are many, many other vineyards across the valley Napa as well. While the production of wine in the Napa Valley suffer during Prohibition, the World following World War II, the wine industry in Napa Valley began experiencing a resurgence.

Today, the Napa Valley is home to over 200 wineries. While you might find it difficult to visit all the vineyards of the Napa Valley, you can visit some of many taking one of the many wine tours that operate through Napa Valley. With these wine tours, you will gain an opportunity to see and taste the many different varieties that are produced in the Napa Valley, including Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and many more.

There are fifteen different regions within the Napa Valley. Carneros is considered one of the best parts of Napa Valley and is home to many quality wineries. On the north end the Napa Valley, you find Oak Knoll. Oak Knoll is considered very versatile and was eventually granted the status of the AVA in 2004.

Coombsville, located to the east, is also sometimes called Tulocay. This region has not yet been established as a region of the AVA, but you can still find many excellent wineries in the region.

Most of the vineyards of the Napa Valley are located on Highway 29, but there are some that are located just off Highway 29. The Yountville AVA is one of those areas. Over the last twenty years in this region has changed significantly. In this region you will find that the caves are a little warmer. Just north of the region, Mountains are located in Yountville, which help block the fog in San Pablo Bay next and the wind.

Rutherford, Oakville and St. Helena, three of the most famous wine in the Napa Valley, are located very close to each other. Wineries in these regions have become well known for producing high quality Cabernet Sauvignon.

A range of hills from north to south separates the ground Napa Valley Area the Stags Leap AVA. Due to the fact that these hills tend to act as a funnel for the wind, the Stags Leap area can be a bit cold and windy, even when other areas in the Napa Valley are hot.

Atlas Peak is located high in the hills. This area was once home Sanviovese many of the vineyards, but today many wineries in this region focus on Cabernet Sauvignon.

Historically, Mount Veeder AVA has been considered one of the best in the region. This is because they generally produces grapes that are high quality and rare. On the mountain slopes in the region, Syrah, Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon are commonly planted.

Diamond Mountain and Spring Mountain is located in the north. The vineyards of this region are known for a specific type of Cabernet Sauvignon, which tends to be produced in very small quantities.

In the northern hills, you will find Howell Mountain. A number of well-known vineyards are located in this area and tend to do very well because of the sunny weather.

Chiles Valley is one of the first regions in the State Zinfandel of California. The isolation of this region AVA has to survive the vineyard to the problems that have historically destroyed many vineyards.

One of the newest additions to the Napa Valley is to Wild Horse. This region is located in the southeast hills. The wind, cold climate is ideal for production Chardonnay and Pinot Black.
